Cancer Walk

Yesterday I participated in a 3-mile cancer walk here in town (Custer County Cares About Cancer).
There were a little under 200 people (which, in a town of about 450 people is pretty darn good).  We each had a balloon to release at the beginning of the walk and my balloon said "Marshall Mullins."  It was only 3 miles, but I was absolutely beat when I got home.  Marshall met me after the walk and we went to breakfast, he was feeling pretty good.  But when breakfast was brought to our table he took two bites and was sick, so we got him home.

The walkers -- the mountains are gorgeous....
Then last night one of the worst thunder/lightning/hail storms hit.  River beds around us that had been dry for years ran like the Arkansas River.  Our phones went out, internet was out, and this morning we saw that our road came close to washing out.  This photo shows one area of our road where there is a culvert.  The culvert on one side had the road washed away from the top and on the right side the culvert is totally buried in sand, dirt and debris.  Two other spots on our half mile road were pretty bad, too.  We were able to get out today, but it was slow going.  Marshall has called to have someone come out and rebuild and regrade the road.  Top priority.
Don't know if you can tell how bad this is....
